denton kukahiko – director of photography,
technical director

After spending 10 years in the Event Planning field organizing concerts, sporting events and fund-raisers, Denny decided to follow his passion for filmmaking. Since making that switch in 2006 Denny has been involved in virtually every capacity of the art form to learn it from the inside-out. He was a little surprised though to find that the skills he learned while event planning have been invaluable to his new developing craft, which at times seems like herding cats. This became particularly obvious taking part as a principal in six different 48-hour film festivals.

3 years prior to moving to Los Angeles in January 2011 Denny worked in the production department of a local news station in San Diego. He operated every piece of equipment used for live broadcast television from operating a studio camera to directing. He did freelance production work for the San Diego Chargers, the NFL Network, the San Diego Art Institute and several local businesses for live broadcasts and commercial projects. Some of his most recent and current projects include:

Denny’s experience with live television honed a talent for solving problems quickly and not allowing the pressure to distract from getting the job done. As part of the superfreako team his strength lies in his ability to stay focused on the technical necessities and giving guidance to the crew while maintaining a stress free and productive environment.
